Andreea Vlad is a visual artist and communication designer currently residing in Copenhagen. She graduated from University of Art, Cluj Napoca (Transylvania), and later on followed the multimedia and communication design programmes in Copenhagen. She has been drawing since she was a child, getting a serious art education at the age of 12. Her academic art education shaped her interest in the human body and identity. Her illustrative work revolves around portraiture, combining a realistic observation of the human state, both physical and emotional, with a dramatic use of lighting, going from fast and gestural sketches to labour-intensive and time-consuming 1:1 scale drawings realised in a photorealistic manner. Her preferred drawing technique is pastel on paper, however she is experimenting often with various materials, introducing acrylic paint, ink, collage, and image transfer techniques. Andreea is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience in drawing and image making with all of you who want to try your hand at this timeless artistic practice, and invites everyone to participate in her drawing experiences. You will have the opportunity to practice various approaches to drawing, exploring the human body in figure drawing sessions - where she invites a male or female model to pose; self-portraiture - a subject she explored profoundly; and also turning the gaze towards nature, looking at and drawing fresh ingredients in her food illustration experience. Andreea's drawing experiences are for all levels, no experience required, and if you actually do have some hours already spent drawing, you will not get bored, as you will learn something new in each experience.
