Biography
Copenhagen-based visual artist Choki Lindberg photographs highly detailed miniature tableaus, meticulously handcrafted from carefully selected materials and found objects. Her dreamlike scenes explore the quiet beauty of decay and renewal. Plants weave through her images, merging with structures in a continuous dialogue between growth and decay.
Intricate flower arrangements are juxtaposed with objects such as animal skulls, bones, and other symbols of impermanence. Her process is deeply sculptural— each object is deliberately placed, the lighting carefully constructed — creating images that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction.
Through these constructed realities, Lindberg examines the human condition in relation to the natural world, inviting a slower, more contemplative engagement with the image in contrast to today’s fast-paced visual culture. Her work tells a story of time, transformation, and the delicate balance between what fades and what flourishes.
Lindberg holds a BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, and has completed studies at ICP, New York, and Fatamorgana (Danish School of Photographic Art), Copenhagen. Her work has been exhibited in Denmark, Holland, and Germany and is held in both private and public collections.
With ARTXP, Choki will be hosting Roots & Moss: A Kokedama Workshop, where she'll guide you through the art of creating your very own Japanese moss ball gardens.
